The Stoke Road Sisters are a mixed group of lively fun loving ladies. Our current membership is 75. We love to welcome visitors to our meetings, if you are interested in coming along to see what goes on at our meetings. Please contact us, so we can add you to our visitors waiting list, we will get in contact with you as soon as we can offer you a space.
Our meetings are held at the Stoke Road Methodist Church, Stoke Road, Gosport, PO12 1JB, we meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm, our doors open at 7.15pm. There is a very small carpark to the rear of the church and lots of on road parking directly outside the church on Stoke Road and also in the nearby streets. If you at using public transport there is bus stop by the church.
We have a variety of interesting meetings coming up for 2018. We also have a well attended book club, crochet club, knit and natter group, as well as other social activities and trips. We also take part in local community events. We will continue to fundraise this year for our chosen local charity, the GAFIRS.
Our Monthly Meetings for 2018
January – Beat the January blues and start 2018 with funny lady Judy Theobald, BBC radio presenter followed by short discussion on the resolutions.
February – Hearty Crafty – feel the love with our hearty crafty themed evening, with a variety of different projects on offer.
March – To celebrate international women’s day, we will welcome our chairman Maureen Levenson, who will explain the work that ACWW does, and the involvement of the WI. Followed by some of our own inspirational ladies.
April – Canine Partners – experience the amazing work that is done by the canine partners, learn about the training that’s involved and the difference a canine partner can make to someone’s life.
May – AGM – followed by what promises to be a entertaining round of social sister bingo !!
June – D-Day – We welcome war time housewife Jane Glennie, feel free t0 dress the part 1940’s housewives an
d land girls welcome, strawberry cream tea to follow.
July – Come and join in the hula hooping fun with teacher Hannah Murphy. This promises to be an energetic evening aimed at all abilities.
August – No meeting.
September – Hear first hand the amazing work and experiences of the First Responders and learn some potential life saving skills too.
October – As part of breast cancer awareness month, breast cancer Haven Titchfield will be presenting us with an informative evening surrounding the sensitive issue breast health, promoting awareness, from the importance of self examination through all types of breast related issues, including breast cancer from diagnosis to treatment, and the support which is available.
November – Christmas craft fun evening preparing for the community Christmas tree festival at St Marys Church in Alverstoke.
December – Festive Christmas celebrations.
