A Day in the Life of a Housewife in Iran
Sandra Simmons attended our meeting on the 4th October to talk about a day in the life of a housewife in Iran. A fantastic speaker she transported us to Iran in the late 70’s early 80’s where she described the hardships of living in a completely different culture.
Describing her everyday chores, behaviours and general living conditions made us all very grateful that we live in a country that does not see women as subservient to men.
The competition this month was the most creative use of a scarf and was won by this fantastic entry that had 10 different uses!
Why not come along to one of our meetings held on the first Tuesday of every month (except August) at 7.30 pm in the Methodist Hall, High Street, Lee on the Solent PO13 9HY. We’d love to see you.
Our venue is accessible to disabled people, who are very welcome as visitors or members. There is an access ramp and wide doors for wheelchairs and a disabled toilet. We’d love to have you with us.
As you can see we offer a very friendly and lively WI which meets in the evening to enable working women and mothers of young children to join. Monthly meetings with opportunities to make and renew friendships. Every month we include time for a cup of tea/coffee and a chat. Interesting talks and discussions on a wide range of subjects. Extra activities take place each month too, guided walks (2nd Thursday), crafts (3rd Tuesday), darts (every Friday morning), Rummikub (2nd Monday) and a luncheon club! Plus some great outings to differing venues such as the Royal Opera House and Covent Garden. Links with other WIs in local, county and national venues.
So come and visit us – we would love to meet you.
