Thank you for visiting our Page!
Fair Oak WI has a membership of 50 fun-loving ladies both young and the more mature! We always welcome visitors – both those planning to join us – as well as those finding out a little more about WI – it is not all ‘Jam and Jerusalem’! You are most welcome to contact me ahead of time so that I can arrange a ‘buddy’ for the evening – or just arrive – we would love to meet you either way. Contact Hilary White on 02380 692773.
We meet in Fair Oak Village Hall, Shorts Road, Fair Oak, SO50 7EJ on the last Wednesday of the month – 7.15pm for 7.30pm, except in December when we wine and dine out locally for our Christmas Dinner. We belong to the Bishops Waltham Group of WI’s which gives us the opportunity to meet and get to know other WI’s in our area. Our members take part in lots of group events eg. quiz, skittles and the group carol service as well as attending ad hoc meetings arranged with interesting speakers. Our WI also participates in many Hampshire Federation events including Spring and Autumn Council meetings, WIFEST, (our celebration of the Women’s Institute), and the opportunity to try new arts, crafts and sports.
In 2018 we celebrated our Centenary with a Birthday Party in February for 80 past and present members who dressed to impress in 1918 outfits. We donated a WI Centenary bench to the village and had an Afternoon Tea and handing-over ceremony in the summer. In June we run a Cake and Preserves Stall at Fair Oak Carnival, the proceeds of which go towards ensuring our meetings are interesting and fun.
We also enjoy other regular ‘get-togethers’ for those who want more than a monthly meeting:
- Ladies Who Lunch
- Craft Group
- Book Club
- Monthly Games evening
- Monthly Coffee morning
So please come and ‘give us a go’ – we look forward to seeing you!
