Bridgemary Wyches WI
The Bridgemary Wyches held its inaugural meeting in January 2019 so is still very much in its infancy. Nevertheless we have almost 50 members of varying ages and abilities. We are a friendly circle of ladies who meet up on the fourth Thursday of the month at 13.00 – 15.00 to have a chat and a cup of tea and cake and to listen to a presentation/speaker. To date we have had talks on “being a Guernsey refugee in England during WW””, “My Journey to becoming an Ultra Athlete” and “Lost Souls” – a very emotive tale of a family’s losses during WW1.
As can be seen by the agenda below we do have lots of extremely interesting future talks also.
In the forthcoming June meeting we will be voting on our chosen charity for 2019-2020 and how we can raise funds for the elected one. Prior to that we are holding a coffee morning at a member’s home and a cake stall at a local venue with all proceeds going to the appointed charity.
Despite being relatively new, we do have a number of interesting events on the horizon, with a Fish and Chip supper cruise down the Chichester Canal and our Social Officers are in the process of arranging a visit to the Poppy Factory in Richmond with a possible visit to the Chelsea Hospital to talk to the Chelsea Pensioners. Work is afoot to arrange a skittles evening and we are always open to suggestions regarding future ideas.
