Who are we? Bitterne WI holds a monthly afternoon meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month. We have several sub-groups and we think this makes for an exciting Institute as there is something for everyone all through each month!
What do we do? As well as our monthly meeting attended by most of our 50-60 members we walk (not too far – good pub at end), play darts (county champions 2006, 2007 and 2010), knit and natter , skittles and lunch, and Scrabble. As well as all this locally we support Group, County and National events and issues.
What else? With diverse speakers our monthly meetings are enjoyed by all, we go out and about several times a year. Our members have raised money for Naomi House, Rose Road and other local charities. We support ACWW with Pennies for Friendship and take an active interest in their campaigns.
Where are we? We welcome guests so if you’d like to find out more about Bitterne W.I. come along to Bitterne Parish Hall, Whites Road, Bitterne, Southampton, Hants, SO19 7NS on the third Thursday of any month for a 1.45.p.m. start.
Where’s Bitterne? Bitterne lies between the Rivers Itchen and Hamble and used to be a village on the eastern side of Southampton but now it’s a suburb but a little of the old village survives and we enjoy it.
