Welcome to the Sherfield on Loddon web page for the year 2017/18
Our activities for the year are listed below. We do hope you will find something of interest to you in our varied programme of events.
We meet in the Village Hall on the first Wednesday of each month at 12 noon in January for soup and sandwiches. In February we have our Annual Lunch. Details to follow. The rest of the year we meet in the village hall at 2.00p.m.
Our Group was formed on 24th April 1919- only four years after the founding of the National Movement.
The Committee is elected by the members annually. In addition to the Year’s Programme, we run a book stall and card stall each month, and usually try to enter in various activities organised by the North Hampshire Group of W.I’s
Activities extra to the Meetings include Mah Jong, Scrabble, and
a knitting group. Usually we enjoy a few trips each year as well as theatre visits. We try to offer something for everyone and will always welcome guests without obligation and new members can join in any month of the year. New ideas to be included in our Meetings are always welcome.
The Village Fete is always supported by us with our cake stall as well as giving help with other fete activities.
Last year we planted a tree in the village green to commemorate the W.I Centenary.
Hampshire Federation also offer many varied activities in topics ranging from Crafts to Science and Well Being. These are usually well supported by our members. We try to double up and share cars as much as possible for these events. This of course helps with friendship bonding as well as helping the environment.
After each meeting we enjoy a delicious tea with time to sit and socialise. Perhaps you are new to the area or just in the mood to try something new! Do come and see for yourself!
