A small friendly WI with members from Chawton and the surrounding area We meet at 7:30 pm in Chawton Village Hall, on the second Wednesday of each month, handy if you work in the day time, as some of our members do.
Our Institute was founded in May 1950, and our archives from that period to today, show a fascinating view of the our Institute then, and now.
The character of our WI is a very social group, who enjoy listening to a wide range of interesting Speakers, outings and visits to the cinema, theatre and gardens, and a regular monthly coffee morning. Helping with the annual Village Fete is always a fun day, providing an opportunity to showcase our produce, raise funds for the local community (and ourselves), and raising the profile of our WI. We all look forward to our events in addition to the usual monthly meeting, as a chance to develop and maintain new friendships.
As part of the wider WI family we enter the Group Skittles and Quiz, which provides an opportunity to forge friendships with a wider group, and of course, the opportunity for some friendly competition! Those that are interested also take part in County Federation activities, and National events.
If this interests you, please feel free to attend a meeting as a guest. We hope you will enjoy the evening as much as we do, and perhaps will become a new member….. Education and friendship awaits.
Happy enjoyable times with WI…..
