Cowplain Forthcoming Activities
Cowplain WI meet on the first Thursday of the month (except December) at 2 0’clock at the Scout Hall, Padnell Avenue. Cowplain WI was formed in 1954 and very soon was an important part of the community. Most months, there is an interesting speaker, whose aim is to entertain, educate and inform on a wide range of topics. This is followed by the normal WI business and discussion. In addition to the monthly meetings, there is an opportunity to join in with one of the many groups that take place. Most of our activities are held at the Scout Hall.
Cowplain WI has a very active art group, They meet at 10.00 am on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays of each month and once a month they have a visiting tutor.
The film club meet on the last Wednesday of the month and show a wide variety of films.
On the 3rd Thursday, at 10.30 a.m., the craft group meet. They are often involved in making items beneficial to the community. It is also an opportunity to meet new friends and try new skills, although a knit and natter suits some members better.
Also on the 3rd Thursday the book club meet to discuss a wide range of books which always generates lively debate.
The Scrabble group meet, at the home of one of our members, on the 2nd & 4th Fridays at 2pm.
Lunch club sessions are on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. It is either a home cooked lunch in the Scout Hall, or, at a local pub.
We enjoy a variety of outings to the theatre, gardens, stately homes etc.
Cowplain WI is part of the Bere Forest Group and enjoy their twice yearly meetings. A very warm welcome is given to visitors attending our friendly meetings.
